A Weeping Cherry in April

So many long years of suffering all weathers:
Trunk and branch gnarl, drooping slowly toward earth,
As bark thickens and roughens, then fissures.

How exquisite in April this cataract of blooms,
This petal-clustered blushing, surging over the earth –
Weeping beauty anew from wood twisted limbs.
